Description – Tramadol 100mg is a pain reliever that binds with the receptors of the brain and nervous system to decrease levels of pain. However, like any narcotics, this drug has the potential for abuse therefore caution is advised before drug use.
MECHANISM
- Researchers and doctors do not know the exact mechanism of Tramadol but it works similar to morphine.
- Tramadol binds to narcotic or opioid receptors in the brain that are more important for transmitting the sensation of pain from throughout the body to the brain.
DOSAGE
- The recommended dose of Tramadol is 50mg – 100mg for every 4 to 6 hours as needed for pain.
- At the initial stage to improve tolerance, patients should be started at 25mg per day dose, this can be increased to 50 mg every 3 days to reach 50 – 100mg every 4 to 6 hours.
- Tramadol may be taken with or without food.
- The maximum dosage of Tramadol is 400 mg per day.
PRECAUTIONS
- Do not stop taking the medicines suddenly or change the dose without asking your doctor.
- Talk to your doctor before taking these medicines if you are planning to conceive as this medicine may cause infertility.
- Do not take this medicine without asking your doctor and in an unprescribed manner.

WARNING
- Tramadol drug is prone to potential addiction.
- In case of overdosage seek medical help immediately.
- Some symptoms of overdosage may be – drowsiness, shallow breathing, slow heartbeat, extreme weakness, cold or clammy skin, fainting or coma.
- Do not consume Tramadol with alcohol or any other drug, alcohol interaction with Tramadol may result in seizures
